*WE'LL DEVELOP A 25-YEAR MASTER PLAN ON SECURITY, FOOD SECURITY - SOUTH WEST GOVERNORS*
The South West Governors' Forum under the aegis of the Development Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) have unanimously agreed to develop a 25-year Western Nigeria Development Master plan to address security challenges, food security among others sectors.
The Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun who read the 11 point communiqué after the meeting of the South West Governors held in Abeokuta, Ogun State revealed that the forum have agreed to have a joint task force to guarantee the safety of lives, property and prosperity of the people of the the region thereby declaring a zero tolerance zone to crime in the region.
The Governor noted that the artificial boundaries of states, religions and political affiliations will not act as barrier to the regional development adding that all the states have been encouraged to improve the bilateral cooperation and foster development.
Speaking on food security in the region, the it was disclosed that the region would soon convene a regional agricultural summit to be held in Ibadan which would improve food security in the region.
Governor Amosun revealed that the forum would set up a committee to codify the values and ethos of the Yoruba race to strengthen the identity and unity of the people of the region.
The host Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun added that the forum would henceforth be known as the Western Nigeria Governors' Forum.
In attendance at the meeting were the Governors of Ekiti, Mr. Ayodele Fayose, Lagos, Mr. Akinwunmi Ambode, Ondo, Arakunrin Rotimi Akeredolu, Osun, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Oyo, Senator Abiola Ajimobi and the host Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun of Ogun State.
