2019 GOVERNORSHIP POLL: OBASANJO, AMOSUN AGREE ON OGUN WEST AGENDA

The Former President of Nigeria, Chief Olusegun Obasanjo has revealed that he is in full support of the ongoing agenda to produce the next Governor of Ogun State from the Ogun West Senatorial district which is being championed by the Ogun State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun.

Chief Obasanjo gave the revelation this Saturday at the 80th birthday celebration of Deacon Poju Adeyemi, an elder statesman held at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library, Abeokuta.

The former President who disclosed that it is time for the Governor of the state to come from the district since the creation of the state for political correctness and fairness called for the support of other districts disclosing that there are so many people from Ogun West district that are more than capable.

Obasanjo used the avenue to warn the people from the Ogun West Senatorial district to come together as one, put their house in order and jointly present a candidate for the 2019 Governorship election.

Obasanjo who said he has not only adopted Governor Ibikunle Amosun as his son, but has also passed on him the vote of confidence due to his performance said his kind of leadership is so rare and exceptional.

Testifying about the "birthday boy", Chief Obasanjo said he is very humble, a man of worth who is reliable and trustworthy and a quintessential offspring of the church and state.

It would be recalled that the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun had earlier declared openly that come 2019, his government would like to hand over power to someone from Ogun West senatorial district of the state.

Governor Ibikunle Amosun while described the celebrant, as a selfless and well respected leader who has served his people diligently said deacon Adeyemi had served the state in several capacities as Head of Service and a two time Secretary to the State Government.

In his words, the celebrant, Deacon Poju Adeyemi thanked God for preserving his life to see the day saying it is not by his power nor by might while appreciating former President Obasanjo and Governor Amosun for standing with the Ogun West people.

Also present at the event among other dignitaries are the wife of the state Governor, Dr. (Mrs) Olufunso Amosun, Ogun State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Onanuga, Speaker, Ogun State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Suraj Adekunbi, Chief of Staff, Chief Tolu Odebiyi.
