OGIRS SENSITIZES RESIDENTS ON FG’S ASSET DECLARATION SCHEME


          Following the Federal Government’s Voluntary Income and Assets Declaration Scheme, the Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) has taken it upon itself to enlighten people of the State on the crux of the scheme.

          The Chairman OGIRS, Mr Adekunle Adeosun, who spoke on the initiative during the agency’s sensitization tour to various markets at Ado-Odo\Ota Local Government, emphasized that the Federal Government of Nigeria had given a leeway for individuals, corporate and private enterprises to declare their income and assets under this scheme within a period of nine months commencing from June, 2017 to March 31, 2018.

          Adeosun who noted that at the expiration, violators would be apprehended, prosecuted and appropriately fined, urged market men and women at Ifo, Sango and Igbehin - Adun (Owode Ota) axis to their taxes to government for it to further deliver on its electioneering promises to the people.

          The Director, Informal Sector(OGIRS), Mr Dipo Shotande, noted that Ado-Odo\Ota Local Government Area was the fifth zone to be visited to sensitize residents on payment of taxes saying ‘’to be fore warned is to be fore harmed’’.

          Dipo explained that Thursday of every week had been set aside as "Tax Thursday" to move round the nooks and crannies of the State to create awareness about the Federal Government’s initiative on assets and income declaration so as to  not to be cut in the web of government.

          "The initiative cuts across everybody but the peculiarity of the market people has necessitated the sensitization tour to be directed at them,’’ he said.

          The Babaloja, Sango -Ota market, Alhaji Sakirudeen Olasege, commended the Amosun-led administration on infrastructural development in the market, pledging total support of the traders to Senator Ibikunle Amosun-led administration in order to continually provide dividends of democracy to the residents.
