NIGERIANS IN DIASPORA SET TO ATTRACT DEVELOPMENTAL PROJECTS TO OGUN STATE


The transformation efforts of the Senator Ibikunle Amosun led administration in the state has received another boost as a group of Nigerians, based in the United States of America have signified interest to partner with the government.

The group under the name Nigeria Initiative for Economic Development (NIED) says it is ready to build a top class estate which will be a mini smart city in the state.

The Coordinator, Nigeria Initiative for Economic Development, Dr. Alfred Tofade who spoke on this development when the team in company of the Nigerian-American Chambers of Commerce paid him a courtesy call said the group is passionate about contributing to the development at home especially in Ogun State.

The proposed mini smart city according to Dr. Tofade will have medical facilities of international standard, institutions of learning, recreational centres, professional libraries among others.

Lending his voice to the mission, the National President of the Nigeria - America Chambers of Commerce, Chief Bintan Famutimi said the bane of Nigerian businesses and business men is the fact that they have goods which are unknown urging the government to incorporate the private sector in all their programs in order to make it work.

Responding, the Governor of Ogun State, Senator Ibikunle Amosun underscored the need to tap into the experience of Nigerians in diaspora to develop the home front urging Nigerians in diaspora to intensify their support for the state.
The Governor noted that nobody will come and develop the country for us except Nigerians themselves show the commitment to play critical role.

Governor Amosun further stated that before the inception of his administration, Ogun State was on the last rung of the ladder in terms of ease of doing business but Ogun State today now stands between the first to fifth position which is as a result of the enabling environment created by his administration.
