KLM Emerges Ogun-West APC Most Structured Aspirant

The name Kolawole Lawal might not readily strike a chord but mention KLM to anyone in Ogun State and you will be quickly told he is the best thing going for Ogun West.

Maybe it’s because of his brillianceand impressive track records during his days at ExxonMobil. His is an inspiring story of a poor young man from a smalltown called Oke-Odan in Yewa South Local government area of Ogun state.

But like a soul destined for greatness, KLM rose from a humble background of a bicycle repairer to an enviable career in the oil and gas sector.

Expectedly, his sojourn in life is a study in tenacity, purpose and persistence. During his high school days at Area Community High School in Owode-Yewa, Kola Lawal, one of the school’s first set came out in flying colours to earn himself an enviable status of the best WAEC result in the whole of Yewaland.

His impressive performance got him admission into one of Nigeria’s prestigious University but he could not proceed due to lack of funds. Eventually he got into Federal Polytechnic Ilaro, where he did his Ordinary National Diploma(OND) in Accountancy).

And straight after his OND, then young KLM returned to ABC Limited – a company where his brilliance as an Invoice Clerk earned him commendations. After some few years at ABC Limited, he returned back to school and completed his Higher National Diploma(HND) in (Accountancy).

KLM’s break free moment came when he was posted to Akwa-Ibom state for his NYSC after bagging Bsc in Banking and Finance, Second Class Upper Div and MBA Management from Rivers State University of Science and Technology, Port Harcourt.

And like a golden fish, his brilliance quickly paved way for him even outside his domain and he was one of the 50 corps members posted to ExxonMobil. At ExxonMobil, KLM rose through the ranks and served in different capacities in the account department of the company.

Despite the comfort and luxury provided by his plum job, for KLM home is where the heart is. His compassion for his people and their well-being won’t allow him sleep.

Though he has done a lot in the area of humanity in his own capacity but he desire a bigger platform to help many more. So he took the bold step in 2010 at the peak of his career and resigned to venture into politics. He invested a lot of his resources and empowered tens of thousands through his empowerment initiatives.

Though his governorship dreams suffered a set back then while he was in the PDP. KLM who is currently the commissioner for forestry is back to reckoning. And he seems to be the destined candidate to fulfill the Ogun West governorship dreams of many years.

Aside his impressive performancein his current assignment, KLM has garnered so much experience by way of his participation in more than 37 excos meetings of the current administration. According to the ebullient commissioner, he is pinning his agenda on 5-cardinal points called AHEAD – A for Agriculture, H for Health,E for Education, A for Accountability and D for Development.

And if news flittering from the streets of Ogun State is anything to believe, KLMmight be the man to move Ogun state ahead come 2019. The graduate of Rivers State University is not leaving any stone unturned in making his dreams come true especially this time when his principal has openly declared his support for the Ogun West governorship bid.

PRESIDENT MUHAMMADU BUHARI ADDRESS AFTER MEDICAL VACATION.

ADDRESS OF PRESIDENT OF FEDERAL REPUBLIC OF NIGERIA, MUHAMMADU BUHARI GCFR ON 21ST AUGUST 2017.

My dear citizens,

I am very grateful to God and to all Nigerians for their prayers. I am pleased to be back on home soil among my brothers and sisters.

2.     In the course of my stay in the United Kingdom, I have been kept in daily touch with events at home. Nigerians are robust and lively in discussing their affairs, but I was distressed to notice that some of the comments, especially in the social media have crossed our national red lines by daring to question our collective existence as a nation. This is a step too far.

3.     In 2003 after I joined partisan politics, the late Chief Emeka Ojukwu came and stayed as my guest in my hometown Daura. Over two days we discussed in great depth till late into the night and analyzed the problems of Nigeria. We both came to the conclusion that the country must remain one and united.

4.     Nigeria's unity is settled and not negotiable. We shall not allow irresponsible elements to start trouble and when things get bad they run away and saddle others with the responsibility of bringing back order, if necessary with their blood.

5.     Every Nigerian has the right to live and pursue his business anywhere in Nigeria without let or hindrance.

6.    I believe the very vast majority of Nigerians share this view.

7.     This is not to deny that there are legitimate concerns. Every group has a grievance. But the beauty and attraction of a federation is that it allows different groups to air their grievances and work out a mode of co-existence.

8.     The National Assembly and the National Council of State are the legitimate and appropriate bodies for national discourse.

9.     The national consensus is that, it is better to live together than to live apart.

10.   Furthermore, I am charging the Security Agencies not to let the successes achieved in the last 18 months be a sign to relax.

11.     Terrorists and criminals must be fought and destroyed relentlessly so that the majority of us can live in peace and safety.

12.     Therefore we are going to reinforce and reinvigorate the fight not only against;

·Elements of Boko Haram which are attempting a new series of attacks on soft targets

· Kidnappings, farmers versus herdsmen clashes,

·In addition to ethnic violence fuelled by political mischief makers. We shall tackle them all.

13.   Finally, dear Nigerians, our collective interest now is to eschew petty differences and come together to face common challenges of;

·  Economic security,

·  Political evolution and integration

·  As well as lasting peace among all Nigerians.

14.     I remain resolutely committed to ensuring that these goals are achieved and maintained. I am so glad to be home.

15.    Thank you and may God bless our dear Nation.

BILLS TO STRENGHTEN CRIMINAL JUSTICE ADMINSTRATION UNDERWAY IN OGUN – AG

The Ogun State Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olumide Ayeni, has expressed confidence that the State House of Assembly Bills  seeking for a law to provide for the Resolution of Disputes by Arbitration and for other Alternative Dispute Resolution Mechanisms as well as the Establishment of the Ogun State Court of Arbitration and For other Related Matters’’ will strengthen Administration of Criminal Justice in the State.
Ayeni stated this while lending his voice to the two bills at a stakeholders’ forum held at the State House of Assembly Complex, Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.
The AG stressed that it was important to review the existing law passed in 1964, which was now outdated to adequately tackle rising cases of kidnapping, juvenile defilement  and land-grabbing amongst others for proper administration of justice.
He said ‘’ the bill seeks to regulate the sector, meaning, in certain types of disputes such as civil dispute , certain rights, it is admissible but in crimes against the State and  matters relating to elections it is not, while emphasizing that the bill was not a replacement or addition to the formal court settings or institution already in existence.’’
The Commissioner observed that the inability of criminal justice administration to meet the desire of the society already had adverse effects on it as it had given room for people to perpetuate jungle justice among others, saying this has necessitated the new bill, noting that the Ogun State Government would still retain capital punishment and death sentences as long as it remained part of the laws of the land.
Meanwhile, stakeholders in the administration of Justice have expressed optimism that the proposed bills on Ogun State Court of Arbitration as well as the Resolution of Disputes by Arbitration and other Alternative Dispute Resolution will enhance the process of justice administration in the State in line with international standards.
The stakeholders who spoke at the public hearing held at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta on the two bills included the State Commissioner for Justice, Dr. Olumide Ayeni, the Brigade Commander of the 35 Artillery Brigade, Alamala Barracks, represented by an officer from the legal Department, Lt. Victoria Dongoyaro and her Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps counterpart, Olusanya Olawale, lauded the Assembly  for putting strategies in place to ensure that all stakeholders contribute to the process of justice administration in the State.
The two bills are: “HB. 17/OG/2017 “A Bill for a law to provide for the resolution of disputes by arbitration and other alternative dispute resolution mechanisms as well as the establishment of the Ogun State Court of Arbitration and For Connected Purposes”; as well as “HB No 18/OG/2017 “A Bill for a law to make provisions for the Administration of Criminal Justice in the High Court and Magistrates’ Courts of Ogun State and for other related matters”.
They noted that the bill to provide for the Alternative Dispute Resolution mechanisms as well as the establishment of the State Court of Arbitration would serve as a means of resolving disputes using arbitration and alternative mechanisms at a minimal cost with an assurance that it would reduce the burden of cases at the courts to quicken justice dispensation.
Other participants including the Chairman, Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), Ijebu-Ode Branch, Mr. Adeniyi Lawal and his Ota counterpart, Otunba Olumide Akinbinnu, representatives of the Justice Development and Peace Commission (JDPC), Adebesin Abiodun and Kemi Adenugba, posited that the State Court of Arbitration was long overdue as the existence of such would assist in resolving minor and civil cases, while seeking for the inclusion of community leaders in the handling of cases at the court.

In her closing remarks, the Chairman, House Committee on Women Affairs and Social Development, Hon. CAUSES OF MORAL DECADENCE AMONG YOUTHS IDENTIFIED

The gradual disappearance of African traditional values and culture have been identified  as  one of the major causes of social vices now prevalent among  youths in Nigeria.

To reverse the trend, parents and guardians have a role to nurture their young ones with good morals and values from infancy.

Yoruba folk writer and poet, Adejoke Somoye, made this assertion while addressing participants at the on-going Ogun 2017 Summer Camp at Akin Ogunpola Model College, Akinale in Ewekoro Local Government Area.

She noted that infiltration of foreign culture and advent of social media are having negative effects on the young ones, urging parents, whom she described as first teachers to instil moral values on them.

Somoye, also known as ‘’Ewa Ede’’, regretted that many children found it difficult to express themselves in their mother’s tongue and could not write in Yoruba.

‘’Most parents, particularly of those of Yoruba extraction, are fond of addressing their children in English language at the expense of Yoruba. This they do to the extent that such children usually find it difficult to express simple words in their local dialect.’’

Dressed in traditional Buba and Iro with head gear, Ewa Ede educated the children on greetings, traditional dresses, folks and songs in Yoruba language among others.

Food for thought, will be of immense help

Morning guys, *please let's read this. It will help us all*

Ezra and Thomas joined a company together a few months after their graduation from university.

After a few years of work, their Manager promoted Ezra to a position of Senior Sales Manager, but Thomas remained in his entry level Junior Sales Officer position.

Thomas developed a sense of jealousy and disgruntlement, but continued working anyway.

One day Thomas felt that he could not work with Ezra anymore. He wrote his resignation letter, but before he submitted it to the Manager, he complained that  Management  did not value hard working staff, but promoted only the favoured!

The Manager knew that Ezra worked very hard for the years he had spent at the company; even harder than Thomas and therefore he deserved the promotion. So in order to help Thomas to realize this, the Manager gave Thomas a task.

“Go and find out if anyone is selling water melons in town?”

Thomas returned and said, "yes there is someone!"

The Manager asked, "how much per kg?" Thomas drove back to town to ask and then returned to inform the Manager; "they are N100.00 per kg!"

The Manager told Thomas, "I will give Ezra the same task that I gave you. Please pay close attention to his response!"

So the Manager said to Ezra, in the presence of Thomas; “Go and find out if anyone is selling water melons in town?”

Ezra went to find out and on his return he said:

"Manager, there is only one person selling water melons in the whole town.

The cost is N500.00 each water melon and N300,00 for a half melon. He sells them at N100.00 per kg when sliced. He has in his stock 93 melons, each one weighing about 7kg.

He has a farm and can supply us with melons for the next 4 months at a rate of 102 melons per day at N350.00 per melon; this includes delivery.

The melons appear fresh and red with good quality, and they taste better than the ones we sold last year.

He has his own slicing machine and is willing to slice for us free of charge.
We need to strike a deal with him before 10am tomorrow and we will be sure of beating last year's profits in melons by over N2,300,000.00.

This will contribute positively to our overall performance as it will add a minimum of 8.78% to our current overall sales target.

I have put this information down in writing and is available on spreadsheet. Please let me know if you need it as I can send it to you in fifteen minutes."

Thomas was very impressed and realized the difference between himself and Ezra. He decided not to resign but to learn from Ezra.

As we begin this second half of d yr,let this story help us keep in mind the importance of going an Extra Mile in all our endeavors.

You won't be rewarded for doing what you're meant to do, you only get a salary for that! YOU'RE ONLY REWARDED FOR GOING AN EXTRA MILE; Performing Beyond Expectations.

To be Successful in Life, you must be Observant, Proactive and Willing to Do More,  Think More, Have a More Holistic Perspective and Go Beyond The Call Of Duty.

May you be Blessed with a Better Perspective to do Your Work this year and beyond, Amen

The Life ahead Needs This Mentality Of Going An Extra Mile. In ministry, career,
As Husbands, mothers, children, etc..
