Emir Sanusi’s Daughter Writes Open Letter To Linda Ikeji. Here’s Why

Popular bolgger, Linda Ikeji yesterday posted a picture of one of  Emir of Kano’s daughters, Khadija Yusra Muhammad Sanusi II.This got so many comments (both positive and negative) which didnt go down well with Khadija.

She has however penned this open letter to Linda.

Hi Linda, I hope you’re well. I saw your blog post about my picture and although I am flattered that you think I’m stunning, I find the comments rather offensive. The comments could be classified under two categories: either made by perverts or made by people who used the opportunity to disregard my father’s marital affairs. I am aware that you cannot control your viewer’s opinions, but you violated My right of privacy by putting up pictures of me on your blog, when you don’t even know me personally.

There is more to a person than meets the eye. By putting up my pictures and describing me as “pretty” and “stunning”, you are judging me based on my physical appearances. Truth is, this is exactly what is wrong with the world. We reduce people and describe them using shallow and physical adjectives. For the commenter who insisted that I was only pretty with make up on, we live in a world full of Nigerians who spend hundreds, and even thousands on Brazilian and Indian wigs, bleaching creams and fake nails. And you are looking down on me because I am wearing make up?

Tanzania’s New President, John Magufuli Bans Foreign Trips For Government Officials

President John Magufuli of Tanzania on Tuesday placed restrictions on foreign travel by government officials and cuts in tax exemptions, signalling the potential start of fiscal belt-tightening measures by his government. A statement from the president’s office said that “the president had put a halt to all foreign trips by government officials with immediate effect. “If there is an urgent need for foreign travel by a public official, approval must be granted by the president himself or the Head of Civil Service.” The directive is against the backdrop of abuse of public funds by some officials reputed for making frequent foreign trips and flying in first or business class at taxpayers’ expense in a country that is one of the biggest per-capita aid recipients in Africa. The statement said Magufuli, 56, had instead, ordered government officials to visit villages and other rural parts of Tanzania to address “grievances and problems of the people”. I think this is a good step in the right direction or what do YOU think? Share your views.

Ben Carson addresses questions about his biography: ‘I’m an honest person’

At the GOP debate here on Tuesday night, Republican presidential candidate Ben Carson defended himself against a series of reports that have raised questions about his personal story.“I’m an honest person,” Carson declared. As Carson has climbed in the polls, a number of reports have highlighted inconsistencies in the claims that the former neurosurgeon has made about himself.  Those articles included a CNN piece that reported that “nine friends, classmates and neighbors” of Carson when he was a youth had “no memory” of the angry and violent incidents that Carson has described. Carson’s stories include one situation in which he said that he had attempted to stab a friend, only to have the knife blocked by the friend’s belt buckle. These angry moments have been incorporated into a narrative of personal redemption that Carson has used on the campaign trail. Doubts have also been raised about Carson’s claim that he was offered a full scholarship to the United States Military Academy at West Point.
