5 Key Ministries Buhari Should Find Experts To Head

Nigeria's president, Muhammadu Buhari, may have lost confidence in Senate President, Bukola Saraki

As Nigerians await the ministerial list of President Muhammadu Buhari this week, there are certain ministries that the president cannot afford to toy with in terms of who takes charge of their affairs. It is pertinent for those who are close to Nigeria’s number one citizen, to continue to drum it in his ears that merit, professionalism and competence should not be sacrificed on the altar of political patronage.

There are 5 major ministries that are important to the economic prosperity of Nigeria, and that should be left in the hands of experts with integrity rather than core politicians who are seeking compensation for their political contributions to the emergence of a Buhari presidency.

Read below:

1. Ministry of Power: President Buhari owes it to Nigerians as a patriotic duty to find a qualified, capable and strong-willed professional to fix Nigeria’s awful power sector. With an expert on board, discovering the right technology, putting in place an effective tariff regime, regulation and foreign partnerships will be the order of the day in the sector. Leaving this ministry in the hands of a core politician will only spell doom for Nigeria.

2. Ministry of Finance: While the president takes his time to decide on the policy templates which his administration will likely adhere to, those close to the president must consistently drum it into his ears that the man or woman to drive these policies must be an expert in economic affairs and one who is tune with global best practices.

3. Ministry of Aviation: It is on record that Nigeria processes passengers more than any other African country, but the truth is that none of Nigeria’s airport is rated highly in the continent. This is due to the mismanagement that has occurred over the years in the nation’s aviation sector. And this is mainly due to the fact that non- professionals have been chosen by past administrations to manage the ministry. Indeed, there is an urgent need for President Buhari to appoint a proven professional in this field who will reposition Nigerian airports and the aviation industry in general to make meaningful impact to the growth of the country’s economy.

4. Ministry of Defence: At a time Nigeria is battling with insurgency mostly in the North-east zone of the country, it will be suicidal to appoint a professional politician to oversee this ministry. Indeed, the protection of lives and properties of the citizens irrespective of their social status remains sacrosanct in the social contract of the government with the people. Hence, to effectively defend the territorial borders of Nigeria and rescue the country from these rampaging insurgents, Buhari has to dig deep and find that one man or woman whose duty would be to coordinate all the security outfits under this ministry to bring an end the insurgency that has bedevilled this country for a long while.

5. Ministry of Education: The magnitude of problems confronting the educational sector in Nigeria is no doubt a major drawback to the country’s quest to prosper among the league of nations. The lack of blueprint fashioning out what Nigeria wants to achieve through education and the modalities for achieving it is one of the reasons why the sector has not made any appreciable progress in a long time. There is an urgent need for the Buhari government to bring in an individual who is an experienced educationist in order to save this very important sector from collapse.

BUHARI APPOINTS PETROLEUM MINISTER

President Muhammadu Buhari first day in Aso Rock ... STATE HOUSE PHOTO

President Muhammadu Buhari on Tuesday named Nigeria’s petroleum minister. And that is himself.
Mr. Buhari said he would personally head the Ministry of Petroleum Resources in the new cabinet.
Addressing some select reporters in New York on Tuesday, after addressing a Global Leaders’ Summit on Countering ISIL and Violent Extremism, the President said: “I wil remain Minister of Petroleum.
“I will appoint a minister of State for Petroleum”.
According to him, this step is being taken as part of efforts to sanitise Nigeria’s oil industry, which is said to be plagued by corruption, massive fraud, and crude oil theft.
Mr. Buhari restated his determination to sanitise Nigeria’s oil industry and free it from corruption and shady deals.
He said that the first step in this direction had already been taken with the appointment of a new management for the NNPC and its subsequent reorganisation.
The President said the prosecution of those who misappropriated NNPC’s revenue under past administrations would soon commence. Source: Premium Times

Blogger arrested for writing story against Amosun’s wife

The Ogun State Police Command has said that a blogger, Emmanuel Ojo, is currently in its custody.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, Muyiwa Adejobi, confirmed this on Monday to our correspondent on the telephone.
He said Ojo was being detained at the Command’s headquarters, Eleweran, Abeokuta, for questioning.
The suspect was said to have been trailed and arrested by security men on Saturday and detained at Ibara Police Station, Abeokuta.
Ojo was arrested for a story that exposed the alleged quizzing the wife of the Ogun State governor, Mrs. Olufunso Amosun, in London, for money laundering.
In the story, Mrs. Amosun was alleged to have been detained by the London Police for being in possession of US300,000.
She has since denied being involved in any money laundering saga.
Adejobi said the Command received a complaint from the state government about the blogger which led to his arrest.
Adejobi said investigations were still being conducted on the matter.
He said, “We received a complaint from the state government on the suspect, and he was arrested. Presently, he is with us at Eleweran. We are still conducting our investigations. If he is found wanting, he will be charged to court accordingly.”
The Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Taiwo Adeoluwa, said the governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, was not connected with the arrest of the blogger, as being speculated in some quarters.
He, however, confirmed that the state government made a formal complaint to the police and the Director of the Department of State Services, about a false allegation that the blogger allegedly made against the governor’s wife.
He said, “The government reported the matter formally to the police and the state Director, Department of Security Services.
“The report by the blogger on the First lady is false and calculated to rubbish her image.

Photos: Ghanaian Actress With Unusual Behind, Ella Martins Married At The Age Of 14

Ella revealed in a private chat, the happiness she enjoyed in her marriage sometime ago has faded out and would like to call it a quit with her German husband.
“I have been married a long time but most people don’t see me as a married woman because I have been living apart from my husband for years now. My husband is German and we are legally married. We married when I was 14 years old. By the time I was 21 I was already tired with the marriage and I guess so was my husband. Both of us have been living separately for years now.”
She added, “I ran away from my parents so early and got myself hooked to my husband. I must tell you my parents are Yoruba. My dad’s name is Olayinka Martins while my mum’s name is Fagbemi Oulematou. But I grew up in Abidjan, Cote de Ivoire and France.”

Police Did Not Release Chief Falae, We Paid Ransom - Family Member

'The impression created by the police that the former minister of finance and chieftain of Afenifere, Chief Olu Falae was released by his abductors without paying ransom has been rebuffed.

According to the SUN,a family member of the elder statesman said contrary to the claim by the police authorities, ransom was paid before Chief Falae was eventually released.

The family source also berated the Inspector-General of Police, Mr Solomon Arase of claiming the glory for Falae’s release saying the police boss just came to Ondo for jamboree “because Police did not have any input in Baba’s release.”  He regained his freedom after spending four days in the kidnappers’ den..

“I wonder why people don’t investigate well before talking. It will be very unfair to give any kudos to the police over Chief Falae’s release having being held hostage for four days. “If we relied on Police to rescue Baba and ignored his abductors on the ransom they demanded by now we would have been telling another story. But we thank God our Baba came back alive.”

The source did not disclose the actual amount paid but said the family had to appeal to the hoodlums to spare Falae’s life saying the kidnappers threatened seriously.  “So, in this kind of development, we should wait and be listening to the police? My brother, forget. As far as I know, the police didn’t play any role in his release.

The family played ball with the abductors, and they took him back to his farm where he was kidnapped and dropped him there. “Baba even said it when he got home that after the abductors had concluded their arrangements with his family, they took him back to his farm at Ilado and dropped him there.

“Baba said when his abductors dropped him, he trekked several kilometers from his farm to a hotel in owo where he met some policemen and introduced himself as Chief Olu Falae. That was how the Police got to know of his release and hijacked the whole process as if they are the one who rescued him. Only an unreasonable person will still give kudos to the police for the Chief’s release. We know who and who we should thank, not the police,” the furious family source said.

Aisha Buhari: President's wife donates food items to orphans in FCT to mark Sallah

The food items donated include bags of rice, cartons of Caprisonne, cantons of Indomie noodles, cartons of biscuit, loaves of bread and cake.
The Wife of the President, Mrs Aisha Muhammadu Buhari, on Thursday donated food items to orphans at the FCT Unity Children’s Home in Gwagwalada to mark Eid el-Kabir.

While presenting the food items to the home, Aisha said that she decided to celebrate Sallah with the children in order to give them the sense of belonging they deserved.

The food items donated include bags of rice, cartons of Caprisonne, cantons of Indomie noodles, cartons of biscuit, loaves of bread and cake.

She said, "I am happy to be here to celebrate Sallah with you. Every child in Nigeria has the right to live, good parental care, access to good health, and education, among others.’’

The president’s wife appealed to the workers at the orphanage to always show love to the children and give them the upbringing they require to enable them to develop their potentials.

She commended the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA) for its support to the children.

"I am surprised to see this beautiful and huge building for the children. I did not expect to see something like this.

"As you are aware, we have more than one million children displaced in the North East as a result of the Boko Haram insurgency.

"They are living with their parents, but they are not living in a good and conductive environment like you,’’ she said.

She assured the children that insurgency would soon come to end as government was committed to tackling all the security challenges in the country.

According to her, all the Internally Displaced Persons including their children will soon be returned to their various homes where they will continue with their education and normal lives.

She advised the children to be law-abiding as everything was being done to ensure that were properly looked after.

The Permanent Secretary, FCTA, Mr John Chukwu, called on the government and NGOs to support in designing programmes for children homes in Abuja.

According to Chukwu, the children's home was established in 2005 by the government to house abandoned children, a trend that is on the increase.

He said that 50 children are currently living in the home.

He commended the wife of the president for donating the food items, saying: ``It takes one with a motherly heart full of compassion to celebrate Sallah in an orphanage.``

Tinubu: I've also been charged before the Code of Conduct tribunal

The APC National leader, Bola Tinubu says the current trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki at the Code of Conduct is nothing new to him as he was tried at the same tribunal two weeks after leaving office as governor of Lagos state. Speaking to newsmen after his Eid prayers at the Dodan Barracks praying ground yesterday September 24th, Tinubu said
“After they discovered that my asset declaration had some questions, they charged me to the tribunal. I went and challenged them to show proofs. I was later discharged and acquitted because there was no evidence to prove their claim. It is only then I accused the government of being selective. We have to live by example and by our words.
We can’t be talking about it alone. We have to work it without any iota of blackmail. I have been through it. The second week I left office, I was invited by the EFCC. I went there and answer their questions. Later, I took them to court and I won. The government officials are almost no longer believable in this country. When one has a public responsibility, they look at it as if the source of wealth to steal and mismanage public funds and do things that are not included in the democratic norms and values. We cannot overlook a lot of things. We cannot personalise a lot of things as if it is vendetta. We have to endure, be patient, look for justice, equity and balance society.” he said

Over 600 Muslims Killed and Injured While Trying To "Stone The Devil" In Saudi Arabia Hajj

It is so sad that more than 200 people have died and about 390 injured in Saudi Arabia after a stampede of pilgrims at the desert plain of Mina, near the holy city of Mecca.
The incident took place as almost 2 million people arrived in Saudi Arabia to make the Hajj pilgrimage in honour of Eid al-Adha, the Muslim feast of sacrifice. This is one of the worst incidents in years to hit the annual Hajj in Saudi Arabia, officials said.
Saudi Arabia’s civil defence service released the toll and said rescue operations were under way. It was not immediately clear what had caused the stampede.
Pilgrims had converged on Mina just outside Mecca on Thursday to throw pebbles at one of three walls representing Satan, the symbolic “stoning of the devil” that marks the last day of the event.

Joke: What do you think his result should be?

A middle aged man met his secondary school mate at a filling station, they exchanged pleasantries. The school mate was dressed in a french suit and was driving a hummer jeep. The man was amazed and asked his friend what job he was doing, the friend replied that he was a pastor and asked him to give his life to Jesus for things to go well for him. The man collected his complimentary card.

On getting home, he decides to be a pastor so as to amass wealth. Luckily for him on getting out the next day, he sees a vacancy for the post of an assistant pastor in front of a church. He immediately applied and the interview was conducted immediately.

The interview went thus:

The man: Twinkle, twinkle little star. How above thy,

The Church: ( Interrupts) where can we find the two verses in the Bible?

The Man:The first one is in chapter Romans Verse John, the second is in chapter Romans verse Corinthians.

The Man: Barman, experience, one year. I can carry four bottles of beer and four glass cups all together in my hand and none will fall.

The Church: It is okay. Come tomorrow for the result!

WHAT SHOULD HIS RESULT BE?

UP NEPA!!! Explained: How Buhari Miraculously Improved The Power In Nigeria Overnight - Brimah

Article written by Peregrino Brimah of ENDs.ng
Many have been puzzled and piqued over this question. How did the new Buhari/Osinbajo government suddenly and rather drastically improve the power situation in Nigeria literally overnight? Apart from Asari-Dokubo and the people of Borno, most Nigerians have celebrated stretches of uninterrupted power like never before.
My niece and nephew were overheard arguing on if it had been a full 24 hours of uninterrupted light. One said it was, the other said it was over 20 hours but not 24. In the past they barely had 20 hours of light per week. It's been so across Nigeria, an unexplained miracle of the new "change" government.
Some die-hard Jonathanians have claimed the glory, "Jonathan did it," they say, "after all has Buhari repaired any power plant?" Some have even accused Buhari and Osinbajo of sabotage, claiming they kept the power down for the 16 years of PDP to pave way for their 2015 election victory.
Let There Be Light
I believe I figured out what the miracle was today and realize the answer is simple and rather painful. While chatting with a friend and ENDS General, who rejoiced that he had not turned on his generator for a whole month, it suddenly hit me. I asked how much fuel he bought into his generator per month, "N30,000" he replied. I asked how much fuel he bought into his car monthly, he said, "about N5,000 a week, about N20,000 a month." It was so clear. I called up several other friends and asked the same question. One said, no, that he doesn't use more petrol for his home generator than his car, then he said, actually I use the petrol for my office... "yeah, I do spend more fueling a generator than my car."
You have been kept in darkness for the 16 years of PDP, not so much because of the generator cabal, but because of people more wicked than them. Because of the fuel cabal. It is the fuel cabal that ensured that you never had power, the same cabal and for the same reason that they ensured that your refineries never worked. They are the ones that said, "let there be darkness over Nigeria."

The Nigerian fuel cabal make their trillions from fuel subsidy payments. The more petrol Nigeria consumes, the more money they make so long as the fuel is imported and not made by our refineries. According to the National Bureau of Statistics, fuel accounts for over 40% of Nigeria’s total foreign exchange expenditure on imports! When Nigeria is in darkness, there is a party in the fuel-cabals' homes. We saw the generators as noise makers and income for the generator marketers, but we rarely recognized them as a cash cow, magic money for fuel cabal. Nigeria uses possibly double the fuel it uses for transportation, for providing power. Like a magic trick, our eyes were covered from realizing the real hustle of generators – doubling Nigeria's fuel imports.

And this explains why, the minute Buhari and Osinbajo came into power and they repaired those refineries, banned those 120 ships and called all the fuel cabal to line-up and account for and return the billions in payments they have gotten for supplying fuel they don't even supply, that same minute the power became steady.

We are talking of $5 billion in imports a year, more than double what it should be, thanks to our generator consumption. There is a long chain that makes money in this scam, from the government to the banks, to importers, to the supply chain and fuel stations. The banks for instance make as much as $100 million annually on premiums on forex sold to marketers to import this fuel.

How did the fuel-cabal keep the power off? The Buhari government must investigate old NEPA, they must investigate PHCN. There are people in those agencies that were on the payroll of the fuel cabal who kept the light switch off. Of course the privatization needs to be reversed as many have said. Imagine, the very same fuel cabal invested in keeping Nigeria in darkness bought PHCN assets and now controlled the switch their very selves! That's getting the wolves to tend the sheep. The fuel cabal must sit in the dock! I have mentioned before that our refineries were never really that spoiled. Our power was always better than we suffered through. What Nigeria suffered for 16 years was people so wicked they kept us in darkness to fill their pockets. After all how can stuff built in early post colonial "prehistoric" era be impossible for us to build and maintain for 30 years of PDP and PDP's godfathers? Of course not. We could have solved our refinery problems 10 times over and our power problems 20 times over had the fuel cabal not collaborated with the IBB and his PDP sons' governments all these years to shut off our refineries and shut down our power supplies so they raked in their billions.

How the lack of steady power hindered Nigeria's development can never be overstated. I believe these matters must be seriously considered, investigated and there must be justice for any and all culprits.
