The Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Information Chapel, Comrade Bolaji Abiodun has assured that her administration will prioritize the health and welfare of members.
Speaking at the 2026 September Congress held at the Olusegun Osoba Press Centre, Oke Mosan, Abeokuta, Comrade Abiodun explained that, as part of efforts to promote the welfare and well-being of members, the Chapel had purchased a blood pressure monitoring machine to enable officers to regularly check their blood pressure and take necessary precautions when required.
The Chairman urged members to collaborate with the chapel leadership to take adequate medical precautions, engage in regular exercises and rest whenever necessary.
Abiodun also disclosed that the Chapel has purchased and installed a free internet facility at the Union's Secretariat to enable members to file and transmit their reports promptly.
She enjoined members to make effective use of the facilities provided, assuring them of the commitment of the new executives to prioritising their welfare.
On her part, the most senior director in the Ministry, Mrs. Kemi Ewedairo-Yusuf emphasised that good health is essential for improved productivity, stressing the need for members to regularly monitor their blood pressure and blood sugar levels.
She also charged the leadership of the chapel to be proactive in the discharge of their responsibilities and to place the welfare of members at the centre of their program.
Highlights of the congress included the provision of free medical check-ups for members and the celebration of members born in the months of July, August and September.
