ACHUDUME LAUDS GOV.ABIODUN ON DECISION TO COMPLETE 250 BED SPECIALIST HOSPITAL

The Lead Pastor of Victory Life Bible Church International, Apostle Lawrence Achudume has lauded the Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his decision to complete the 250-bed specialist hospital in Abeokuta.

Achudume who gave the kudos during an interview with journalists said, "this is one of the best decisions that the governor has made and I am so happy for this because it will improve health care services for the people in the state and the country at large".

The Lead Pastor added that, "when I read the press statement that was released, my joy knew no bound because each time that I pass that place, I always pray that, Lord, let the governor do something about this hospital and I have always believed that he was taking his time to get the right company to partner with".

The clergyman further disclosed that the pronouncement made by the governor that the multi billion-naira hospital with 10 ventilators, oxygen plants, equipment for radiology diagnostic, laboratory, accident and emergency, maternal and child care services, oncology and nephrology services, surgical services, and outpatient clinics, would be fully operational before the end of 2025.

"I went to look into the profile of the company, Viewpoint Health Management Services Limited and Pan African Capital Holdings, that government is partnering with, I saw that they are a standard company. If the investors can do what they have agreed with the government, the state will be the hub of medical tourism in the country", the clergyman said.

Apostle Achudume noted that the governor had really shown his love for his people, enjoining him to do something about the uncompleted secretariat building between Block D and the House of Assembly complex, as its completion would add beauty to the State.

It would be recalled that the Governor while handing over the hospital to the company said "the achievement is a reflection of his administration’s commitment to complete all inherited projects adding that the gesture will also provide accessible and world class healthcare services to the people".

In another development, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Chapter, Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju commended the governor for the renovation work ongoing at the State's House of Assembly complex.

IFO MONARCH, RESIDENTS COMMEND OGUN GOVT. ON ROAD INTERVENTION

          Monarch and residents of Ifo Local Government Area of the state, have applauded the present administration for the reconstruction of Ojodu Abiodun-Denro-Ishasi-Akute road.

          Speaking with newsmen, during the commissioning of the road, the Olojodu of Ojodu, Oba Samuel Benson commended the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for its effort at improving road infrastructure.

          The Monarch noted that reconstruction of the road would enhance economic activities and overall quality of life of residents.

          In his submission, a business owner in the area, Dr. Adekunle Adelakun, who lauded the intervention, said the road would attract investors to the area, thereby increasing Internally Generated Revenue of both Ogun and Lagos states.

          Contributing, a Tricycle Rider, Mrs. Adenike Onabolu, posited that road would ease vehicular movement, as well as reduce crashes to barest minimal.

          Chunedu John, a trader, gave kudos to the state government for the giant strides, soliciting for continuous road construction and rehabilitation across the state.

          In the same vein, Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Engr. Ade Akinsanya noted that the road was awarded with the vision of enhancing connectivity, promoting economic growth and improving access to essential services for the residents, highlighting some of the features of the road to include, 1mx 1m lined drain on both side of the road to convey the run off and flood water from the carriage, culvert of various sizes and functional drainage system.

          Akinsanya added that due to the road nearness to Lagos, it would offer better transportation facilities to the residents plying the route thus boosting agricultural productivity and promoting socio-economic development, among others.

Screening of Applicants for the 2024 Ogun State Security Network (Amotekun Corps) Recruitment Exercise


In continuation of the 2024 recruitment of an additional 700 personnel, the Ogun State Security Network and Amotekun Corps, announces the commencement of the screening exercise for all applicants. 

This important initiative aims to strengthen our commitment to ensuring safety and security within our communities.

The screening process will take place in four designated centers across the State, starting from Monday, 25th November 2024, and concluding on Sunday, 8th December 2024. Applicants are encouraged to attend their respective centers on the specified dates for a seamless process.

FG, DAWN COMMISSION LAUD OGUN DIGITAL EDUCATION INITIATIVE, AS OTHER SOUTH WEST STATES UNSTUDY

      The Federal Ministry of Education, and allied agencies in Southwest West states of the country, have commended the digital education initiative of Ogun State government.
         The commendation was brought to the fore in Abeokuta, during an understudy visit by the representativs of Ministries of Education in Lagos, Osun, Oyo, Ondo and Ekiti states, facilitated by Developmental Agenda for Western Nigeria (DAWN) Commission in collaboration with Plane International Intervention.
   Speaking, a Senior Education Officer, Nigeria Education Management Information System, Federal Ministry of Education, Mr. Adewale Adesanya, while evaluating the state technological innovation, tagged, Ogun State Revitalisation Agenda (OGSERA) through its Digital Platform for Education Revitalisation (DiPER), 
 described both as worthwhile initiative that was capable of advancing the education sector.
      Mr. Adesanya applauded the state government for a well-thought, effective and all encompassing platform, enjoining other states to replicate the digital initiative.
    Also speaking, Head of Programmes, DAWN Commission, Mr. Abiodun Oladipo, expressed delight for the home grown solution as it touches all aspects of education sector, promising that the Commission would advocate for its adoption by other states, to further take education sector to a higher pedestal.
      On his part, Education Quality Specialist and Consultant for DAWN Commission, Mr. Adeyemi Adebayo, said the initiative was a good development to the entire Africa, saying, "in my own assessment, it is a very good thing, I hope that every other states in the southwest will also key into it and develop their own, OGSERA here , it could be OYOSERA in Oyo State, LASERA in Lagos or whatever name they choose to give it, it is the way to go".
     In their separate remarks, Director Education Management Information System (EMIS), Ondo State, Mr. Folajimi Akinjagunla, Technical Lead, Governance of Non-State System, Dr. James Fadokun and Head of EMIS Unit, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education Lagos State, Mrs. Toyin Ajayi and Mr. Olumide Olore from Ekiti State EMIS Unit, said the innovation had made data collection and management easy,appreciating the Ogun State Ministry of Education, Science and Technology for the visit.      
       In his presentation, Commissioner in the Ministry, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, said a lot of remarkable achievements had been recorded since the adoption of various technological transformation, such as efficiency in data gathering, collation and analysis, transfer process, screening of learners into the State Flagship Secondary Schools, among others.
    According to the Press officer, Samuel Ogungbesan, He noted that, "through the digital platform, issue of examination malpractices at all levels have been tackled headlong and reduced to the bearest minimum, while insecurity, indiscipline and truancy in schools have become things of the past since the introduction of the system by the present administration in the state".
     Prof. Arigbabu, who was optimistic about the technological advancement, stated that,"the digital platform if adopted can profer solutions to different problem without struggle. As he advised the delegates to relate their experience with the OGSERA and its DIiPER, as initiatives that will transform their education sector".

OGSG Disowns Invitations on Screening of Next-of-Kin of Deceased Pensioners

The Ogun State government has described as false and misleading a notice attributed to the Bureau of State Pension inviting the next-of-kin of deceased pensioners to undergo a screening process.

A statement by the Permanent Secretary in the Bureau, Mrs. Arinola Adetayo, stated that the notice, purportedly issued by an unnamed individual, was not authorized by the government.

Mrs. Adetayo noted that the state government had established a clear official procedure for processing pension claims and disbursing benefits to the next-of-kin of deceased pensioners, adding that the process did not require any forms of screening by unknown individuals or third parties.

“The notice circulating on social media does not originate from any government office, department, or Bureau of State Pensions personnel. The Bureau is not in any way associated with, nor endorses the request made in the notices.

"Any request for screening of next-of-kin by individuals or entities not officially recognized by the state government is fraudulent and should be disregarded.

"We strongly advise that no personal information or documents should be shared in response to any unauthorized invitations or requests," she said.

She advised that anyone who had received the notice should contact the Bureau Office at Block A, Ogun State Government Secretariat, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

EXPERTS ENJOIN MEDICAL PERSONNEL TO UPHOLD PROFESSIONAL ETHICS

Newly recruited medical personnel into the Ogun State Civil Service have been enjoined to uphold ethics of the profession in the discharge of their duties and see their roles as crucial to the overall well-being of the people.

The personnel comprised; Medical Doctors, Pharmacists, Nurses, Medical Record Officers, Medical Laboratory Scientists, Physiotherapists and Dental Officers for the senior cadre, while health attendants, cooks, clerks, messengers and watchmen, were for the junior cadre.

 Permanent Secretary in the Board, Dr. Olayinka Elemide, while speaking during a two-day Orientation/Induction programme, organised by the Board for the Officers, at the State Hospital, Ijaye Abeokuta, with the theme, "Facilitating Effective and Efficient Service Delivery", emphasised the importance of teamwork, dedication and professionalism.

Dr. Elemide, represented by the Head, Abeokuta Health Zone and the Chief Medical Director, General Hospital, Odeda, Dr. Adewunmi Alayaki, stated that the orientation exercise would enable the personnel to be acquainted with the rules and regulations guiding Public and Civil Service.

She urged the Officers to take into cognisance some of the virtues, such as politeness, obedience, loyalty, intelligence, courage and endurance, as pathways to success, which would guide them through their career in the service.

 On his part, a facilitator, Director of Administration and Supplies in the state Ministry of Education, Science and Technology, Mr. Tope Balogun pointed out that teamwork was germane in a hospital environment, noting that there should not be rivalry among the medical personnel.

He added that, "Your approach to patients matters a lot. You should be able to talk to the sensibility of your patients and know how to appreciate them".

Contributing, his counterpart in Hospitals Management Board, Mrs. Omotunde Alimson, while speaking on ‘’Administrative Process’’, admonished the Officers to ensure that punctuality remains their watchwords, saying lateness to duties, absconding from work, among others would not be tolerated.  

Two of the newly recruited medical personnel, who spoke on behalf of others, Dr. Samuel Edung and Miss. Oluwalonimi Oduneye, appreciated the state government and the management of the Board for the orientation, saying it was an eye opener in achieving effective healthcare service delivery.

OGSIEC RELEASES LIST OF COUNCILLORS-ELECT, PRESENTS CERTIFICATE OF RETURN

 Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), has released the names of successful Councillors into the 236 wards of the state, at the just concluded elections, while presenting their Certificate of Return.

Chairman of OGSIEC, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, during the presentation of the certificate at the Commission’s Headquarters, Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, congratulated the newly elected Councillors, urging them to meet the expectations of the people who voted them in, and deliver dividends of democracy.

The Chairman, represented by one of the Commissioners in the Commission, Gbemi Onasanya, charged the Councillors not to mock their opponents who lost out during the election but extend a hand of fellowship to them, saying, ‘’it is only in a peaceful atmosphere that development can thrive’’.

He implored them to cooperate with their Chairmen to foster peaceful co- existence and unity.

A distinguished son of Egbaland, Engr. Yemisi Shyllon has been commended for his philanthropic gesture and cultural preservation, especially through the donation of a statue that represents a tribute to the past and a gift to future generations.

The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya, gave the commendation while delivering a goodwill message at the unveiling ceremony of a statue built in honour of a great hero and leader, Chief Sodeke, held at the Ake Palace Roundabout, Ake, Abeokuta.

According to the Head of Service, a debt of gratitude is owed the donor, Engr. Shyllon, who has once again demonstrated resolute commitment to the promotion of history, culture and collective identity of the people in order to ensure that the rich story of Sodeke and the founding of Abeokuta remain alive and accessible.

“I wish to remark that the unveiling of this magnificent statue is an important reminder of the rich cultural heritage of the Egbas and the foundational values of resilience, community and leadership while also representing a call to preserve the legacy of our forebears as we strive for collective progress. It should also represent an avenue to renew our commitment to the ideals of unity, heritage and progress, same that the legendary Sodeke championed during his reign”, the HoS said.

He congratulated the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba. (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, and the entire people of Egbaland for the significant milestone in preserving their cultural heritage and wished them all abundant blessings, continued unity and prosperity as they celebrate the unveiling of the statue of the courageous and visionary icon, Chief Sodeke.

In separate goodwill messages, the Commissioner for Culture and Tourism, Hon. Sesan Fagbayi, represented by the Deputy Director, Tourism Development and Promotion in the Ministry, Mr. Abdulrazaq Abdulsalam, the Proprietor, Crescent University, Abeokuta, Prince Segun Ajibola (SAN), a Fellow, Nigerian Society of Engineers, Ogun State Chapter, Engr. Dele Oladipo and the President, Sculptors Association of Nigeria, Ogun State, Dr. Kehinde Badaru, said they were proud to be associated with the stride the donor has made with a pledge that they would continue to be key players in the sustenance of arts and culture, as exemplified in the making of the statue that combined arts and engineering to give it a symbol of excellence.

They urged the people to emulate the great charity of Chief Shyllon, who has chosen to generously identify with his people, by providing a compass through which the people can live their lives.

Earlier in a welcome address, the Artist, Prof. Funke Ifeta said the donor is a great leader who likes making people happy in all he does, as he desires the growth and development of his town, and added that a lot of things is still in the offing for the development of Egbaland by Chief Shyllon.

Highlight of the event was the unveiling of the statue by the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba. (Dr.) Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, as well as eminent sons and daughters of Egbaland in attendance.

OGSG TRAINS MSMEs ON CYBER SECURITY BEST PRACTICES

   Ogun State government has deepened its awareness on leveraging innovative digital marketing landscape, as well as engaging cyber security best practices, towards growing the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs).
  To this end, a training workshop organised by Bureau of Information Technology (BIT) in collaboration with GIZ at Kuto, Abeokuta, with over 100 entrepreneurs were again exposed to latest trends in digital marketing space, while trying to grow their businesses.
      In her address, Director, Standard Regulations, Planning and Research, Mrs. Olatundun Adekunte, assured that Ogun State government would ensure regular updates on digital marketing awareness and integration, as well as cyber security best practices to enhance ecosystem of the state.
   Speaking, one of the resource persons,President,Ogun Tech Community, Adekunle Durosinmi stated that digital marketing offers a wide range of opportunities that would boost organisation's image, noting that it could also mar long time achievements if not properly engaged.
    He charged MSMEs on adaptation of the ever- changing cyber security safety tips ,while highlighting the benefits of engaging digital marketing innovations such as, cloud based productivity, e- commerce platforms, digital payment platforms among others, stated that social media or Google advertising remains seamless and affordable.
   Durosinmi, who reeled out some digital space safety practices, such as Multi - Factor Authentication (MFA), implementation of fireworks and antivirus software, regular update of software and backup, usage of strong password , urged entrepreneurs to adapt technology world best practices for online safety and profits.
   On her part, Chief Executive Officer, Fashion world Technologies,Bamidele Onope attested to digital marketing as major breakthrough in her organisation,called on other enterprenuers to key into numerous benefits of digital marketing .
   Remarking, state Chairman, Cobblers and Leather Artisans Association of Nigeria, Mr. Ibrahim Kushimo appreciated the state government on behalf of Micro,Small and Medium Enterprises MSMEs, for empowering them on innovations that would boost their organisations, called for more of awareness on cyber security best practices.

LG ELECTIONS: ALTERNATIVE IDs WILL NOT AID MULTIPLE VOTING - OGSIEC BOSS

Chairman of Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, has clarified that using alternative identification cards such as Driver’s License, International Passport, as well as government issued Staff Identification cards would not aid multiple voting in the coming elections.

Mr. Osibodu stated this during a media engagement with newsmen at the Commission's Headquarters in Abeokuta, saying these alternative means of identity would only serve as verification and identification tools for individuals who have lost or misplaced their Permanent Voters’ Cards (PVC) but had their names published on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Voters' Register.

“The primary purpose of PVC is for verification and identification of voters through the BVAS machine, ensuring details on the card and picture tallies with information on INEC Voters’ Register", he said.

The OGSIEC Chairman, who informed that accepting other means of valid identification was to prevent people from giving excuses and encourage them to exercise their civic responsibility, reiterated the Commission's commitment towards conducting a free, fair, credible and transparent elections, maintaining that, "OGSIEC cannot determine the outcome of the elections but can only count votes and announce results".

He added that the electoral umpire had embarked on extensive training for Electoral and Returning Officers, while Presiding Officers, Poll Clerks and Poll Orderly would be trained this weekend at various designated centres, in preparation for the polls.

 Mr. Osibodu urged political parties to campaign vigorously, while appealing to individuals who might want to disrupt the electoral process to desist from such, as security agencies would be on ground to ensure a conducive atmosphere for people to exercise their civic right.

OGUN TASKS NEWLY RECRUITED CIVIL SERVANTS ON DILIGENCE


Newly recruited officers into the Ogun State Civil Service have been charged to be diligent and ensure that they add value to service delivery in their respective Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs).

    Chairman, Civil Service Commission, Engr. Tokunbo Odebunmi, said this while delivering his welcome address at a day Orientation Course organised for the newly recruited senior and junior officers at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

Engr. Odebunmi said the training was part of the schedule of the commission to equip new officers with necessary requisites needed to enable them implement government’s policies and programmes towards achieving its goals.

He admonished the officers to be good ambassadors by being dedicated in the discharge of their statutory duties to the state and the general public, adding that they must be conversant with public service rules and regulations, financial regulations, among other books guiding the Civil Service operation.

Also speaking, Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Mrs. Roseline Jacobs said the orientation training was meant to educate and enlighten the newly recruited officers on their day-to-day activities for effective service delivery, enjoining them to be decent in their dressing.

She lauded the state Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun for approving the recruitment into the Civil Service, which cut across Information/ Public Relations Officers, Confidential Secretaries, Data Processing Officers, Messengers, Clerical Officers, among others.

In his presentation, a resource person, Director, Administration and Supplies, Mr. Sakiru Bakare, who spoke on ‘’Understanding Office Structure and Core Functions of the Civil Service Commission’’, said the Commission was saddled with the responsibility of appointing persons to offices in the state Civil Service to maintain comprehensive and up-to-date personnel records of the Civil Servants, among others.

 Also speaking, his counterpart in Promotion and Discipline, Mr. Olajide Oladipupo, talked about ‘’Work Ethics and Office Communication’’, stating that ethics were essential in the Civil Service because it regulates moral norms, value and conduct of workers.

Two of the participants, Mr. Ibrahim Akinbode, an Information/Public Relations Officer and Miss Racheal Ajayi, a Confidential Secretary, appreciated the Governor Abiodun for giving them the opportunity to serve the state, promising to discharge their duties as expected.

OGSIEC NOT OBLIGATED TO CONSULT POLITICAL PARTIES BEFORE FIXING ELECTION DATE - OGSIEC

Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission, (OGSIEC) is not under any obligation to consult political parties or candidates before fixing an election date.

Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Babatinde Osibodu, stated this at the Commission's headquarters in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, citing the High Court ruling in Abeokuta that upheld OGSIEC’s authority and prerogative to fix election date, as well as conduct Local Government Elections in the state.

Mr. Osibodu pointed out that, "the judgement delivered by Justice T.A Ogunsokan, reinforces the Commission's mandate at ensuring a free, fair, credible and transparent elections across the 236 wards in the state".

He reiterated the Commission's commitment towards creating a level playing field for all political parties, noting that, “the ruling does not only support our procedures but also emphasises our responsibility to uphold the election timetable".

The Chairman assured that the Commission was prepared for the coming elections, just as it remains open to constructive dialogue and collaborations with all stakeholders, as well as adhering to the legal framework guiding its operations.

OGUN GOVT. PROMISES TO INCORPORATE PEOPLE’S NEEDS IN FISCAL PLANS

In a significant move towards community engagement and participatory governance, Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun has stressed his administration’s commitment to listening to the voices and concerns of its citizens, in order to incorporate them in the fiscal plans for the coming year.
This was made known during the Egba Division Town Hall Meeting of the 2025-2027 Medium Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) and 2025 Budget, at the June 12 Cultural Centre, Kuto, Abeokuta, which wraps up the exercise.

 Governor Abiodun, represented by Chief Economic Adviser and Commissioner for Finance, Mr. Dapo Okubadejo, said “This final session is a culmination of our efforts to ensure that the voices of Ogun State residents are heard and reflected in our governance”.

Highlighting the importance of public participation in shaping the exercise, Governor Abiodun noted that the meetings allowed residents from the four zones, Ijebu, Remo, Yewa and Egba, to engage directly with government officials, provide feedback on pressing local issues, while adding that the meeting in Egba served as a vital opportunity for community leaders and citizens to discuss their specific needs and aspirations towards the development of the state.

He stated that government’s focus on infrastructure was a direct response to community feedback, gathered during previous meetings, saying, “We understand that improved roads and essential services are crucial for economic growth and the well-being of our citizens. Over 600 kilometers of road work has already been completed, while others are underway across the state, with significant projects highlighted in Egba Division, including ongoing constructions”.

Governor Abiodun reflected on the safety concerns raised by citizens during the Town Hall meetings, assuring that his administration would continue to prioritise safety of lives and property through community policing initiatives, towards creating a safe environment.

On his part, the Alake and Paramount Ruler of Egbaland, Oba Adedotun Aremu Gbadebo, praised the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration for its commendable efforts in developments across the state, urging the administration to sustain the tempo, particularly in the area of road infrastructure.

In his remarks, the state House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon Oludaisi Elemide, commended the Executive arm of government for its inclusiveness and forthrightness in ensuring that development in different sectors of the economy cuts across all the regions of the state.
