KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK, PS CHARGES STAFFERS...AS ALMA MATER VISITS

The members of staff of the Bureau of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, have been charged to keep up the good work so as to ensure quality service delivery to the entire workforce in the State.

The Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Oladipupo Ogunfowora, gave the charge in a maiden meeting with the staffers of the bureau at the Conference Hall of the office of the Head of Service.

Mr. Ogunfowora urged them to use their God given talents for the success of the office, in the discharge of duties and responsibilities given to them in their various departments and units for the overall betterment of the Civil Service.

He urged the workers not to abuse the privilege of the off days arrangement approved by the Governor of the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, by absenting themselves from duty unduly.

"Our governor has been magnanimous enough to approve one day a week off duty for us as one of the means of palliatives to cushion the effect of fuel subsidy removal, don't let us abuse the privilege by absenting ourselves from duty unduly, let us strictly adhere to the schedules and avoid taking laws into our hands", Ogunfowora advised.

The Permanent Secretary, while appreciating the members of staff for their cooperation and support since his assumption of office, solicited for continued cordial relationship to keep moving the bureau forward.

Responding, the duo of the Directors, Welfare Matters and Administration and Supplies, Mr. Abubakar Adeduntan and Mrs. Adebola Fagunwa, congratulated the Permanent Secretary on his appointment and promised their unalloyed, unflinching support and cooperation by discharging their duties responsibly.

In another development, the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Mr. Oladipupo Ogunfowora, received in audience the Management Team of Ijemo Titun High School, (Junior), Ibara, Abeokuta led by its Principal, Mrs. Funmilayo Adeyemi, who came to felicitate him on his appointment as Perm. Sec.

Mrs. Adeyemi said the visit was necessary as Mr. Ogunfowora is the first old student of the school to become a Permanent Secretary in the Ogun State Civil Service.

She said the school is elated to identify with their own and solicited for more support towards the continued progress of the school.

Responding, the Perm Sec., Mr. Ogunfowora, who was overwhelmed to receive his Alma Mater as the first group on a visit to his office, appreciated the Principal, her team members and indeed the entire school for the visit and acknowledged that his great dream of lofty heights he has attained was inculcated into him at the school.

He appreciated them for the confidence reposed in him and promised not to disappoint them but will keep the flag of the school flying.

THANK YOU FOR YOUR COLLABORATIVE EFFORTS, HoS TELLS LABOUR

The leadership and members of the Organised Labour in Ogun State have been commended for their cooperation, collaboration and support to the State Government, while all efforts must be geared towards enhancing the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State.

The State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, gave the commendation while declaring open a 2-day leadership retreat (harmattan course), with the theme: "Empowering Leadership: Building a Strong Future for Workers" put together by the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Ogun State Council, held at the Council Secretariat Hall, Leme, Abeokuta.

According to him, all hands must be on deck to enhance the capacity of the State by generating more revenue, which will in turn better the lots of the workers and the generality of the people of the State.

While reiterating the efforts of the State government to boost workers' welfare to include, conduct and release of 5 promotions in 4 years, constant training and retraining initiatives for all cadres, appointment of Permanent Secretaries as and when due, unprecedented payment of peculiar allowance, palliative packages, release of CNG bus to workers, amongst others, the Head of Service solicited for more understanding and support from the labour leaders as government would continue to meet their demands within available resources.

"I enjoin you to block leakages and stop wastages at your spheres of influence and I solicit your continued support towards the continued successful implemention of the 'Building Our Future Together' agenda of the present administration" the HoS said.

Mr. Fagbohun enjoined the participants to take advantage of the retreat to upscale their skills and enhance their knowledge for efficiency and effectiveness, as the training is meant to bond, explore new frontiers, rejuvenate, encourage one another, collaborate, and enhance learning and development of themselves and their members.

On his part, the lead facilitator, the President, the Nigerian Workforce Strategy and Enlightenment Centre (NIWOSEC), Dr. David Ehindero, appreciated the State government for its support to the organised labour and submitted that collaborative approach to labour unionism to foster oneness and to address the challenges facing labour unions with the aim of solving them is the in-thing, which is being enjoyed in the State.

He said upholding excellence in activities to advance the welfare of the workers, to enhance the spirit of empowerment and leadership to build the workforce are part of the retreat and urged participants to concentrate for utmost results.

Earlier in his welcome address, the Chairman, Ogun State Council of the NLC, Comrade Ademola Hameed- Benco, while appreciating the governor, whom he described as labour friendly and compassionate, said the the retreat was to strengthen leadership capacity, as well as leadership development, labour strategic planning, industrial relations planning and policy advocacy and engagement, as leadership is not exacting powers but empowering others.

Highlight of the event was the presentation of awards to the Governor of the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun for his outstanding contributions to labour matters, the Secretary to the State Government, Mr. Tokunbo Talabi for his exemplary leadership and the Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun for being a legacy builder.

In attendance was the Permanent Secretary, Bureau of Service Matters, Office of the Head of Service, Mr. Oladipupo Ogunfowora, and all the directors from the Bureau.

OGSEMA, NEMA DONATE RELIEF ITEMS TO 2023 FLOOD VICTIMS IN OGUN EAST

The Ogun State Emergency Management Agency(OGSEMA) in collaboration with the National Emergency Management Agency(NEMA) has handed over relief items to representatives of nine Local Government Areas in Ogun East Senatorial District, for onward distribution to 2023 flood victims in the areas.

          The items comprised food and non-food items including, garri, beans, rice, cooking seasoning, soap, bags of cement, clothes, mats, blankets, and buckets among others

          Commissioner, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Hon. (Mrs.) Olufunmilayo Efuape, who supervised the distribution of the items at the MKO Ablola Trade Fair Complex in Abeokuta, stated that the initiative was aimed at improving the lives of the victims and compensating them for their losses.

          While acknowledging the Federal Government for providing the succour, the Commissioner said the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led administration was passionate about enhancing the social welfare of the people of the State, noting that the government would not relent in ensuring their well-being.

She stated that, "My advice to the people is to encourage them to keep their environment clean. They should desist from dumping refuse in rivers, drainages and other unlicensed places. When a disaster happens, before the government knows, the immediate people would have been affected. Erecting buildings on unlicensed places should be discouraged. We recognised part of the problems are ecological which the Federal Government is looking into".

In his remarks, the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Special Duties and Intergovernmental Affairs, Mr. Lateef Benson while assuring the beneficiaries of proper distribution, thanked the Federal Government for its readiness to assist citizens at all times. 

In his remarks, Director, , Ogun State Emergency Management Agency, Mr Wale Shonde advised the people to cultivate the habit of planting trees to guide against flood and wind disasters.

Two of the representatives from Ijebu–North and Ijebu -East Local Governments Areas, Prince Femi Akinsanya and Mr. Oluwaseun Sanni in their separate interviews appreciated the Federal and State Governments for the succour, promising to distribute the items judiciously.

GO AND MAKE IMPACTS, HoS TELLS NEWLY DEPLOYED OFFICERS

Newly deployed Administrative Officers from various Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) of government most especially to Ogun State Internal Revenue Service (OGIRS) and the Bureau of Lands and Survey have been charged to go and make impacts and showcase ethical standards in all their undertakings.

The Ogun State Head of Service, Mr. Kolawole Fagbohun, gave the charge while meeting with the newly deployed officers in his office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.

According to him, the posting is purpose driven following the directive of the governor of the State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, to enhance the Internally Generated Revenue (IGR) of the State for better performance and overall progress.

Mr. Fagbohun said the officers must use the platform for continuous improvement and efficiency, must not only meet target but surpass it and block any gap or loophole that is noticed in the course of discharging their statutory duties as government will not hesitate to remove any non-performing officer from the duty post.

"This is a platform for continuous improvement and efficiency. You're on a special mission where IGR must be enhanced. You should redress administrative lapses at your new duty posts. Be mindful of yourself, the administrative cadre and the general service in all you do and do not collect gifts that will put you in trouble. Do not run after money but make impacts", the HoS urged.

He admonished all of them to cooperate with their directors, give them maximum support, work with them and through them for optimal productivity, as the posting takes immediate effect.

OGUN CSC EMPHASISES SIGNIFICANCE OF SEMINAR, CONFERENCES FOR WORKERS

In its concerted effort to improve the skill and productivity of Ogun State workforce, the State Civil Service Commission (CSC) has assured that seminars, conferences and workshops will be organised in collaboration with the Bureau of Establishments and Training, to further expose workers to new trends that will add value to their duties.

The newly sworn-in Permanent Secretary in the Commission, Mrs. Roseline Jacobs gave the assurance while fielding questions from Journalists in her Office at Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta, saying the agency would not relent on the training and re-training of workers as it contributes to effective and efficient service delivery.

According to her, ‘’The Civil Service Commission in collaboration with the Bureau of Establishments and Training will organise seminars, conferences as well as workshops for the workers to be equipped with necessary skills to improve productivity in discharging their duties".

 The Permanent Secretary emphasised that promotions would be duly done, while recruitment and appointment would also take their pride of place as approved by the Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, adding that employment generation being a key ingredient of the ISEYA mantra would equally enjoy maximum attention.

She appreciated the Governor for finding her worthy to be appointed as a Permanent Secretary in the State Civil Service.
