OGSIEC TO CONDUCT COUNCILLOR BYE-ELECTION IN ODOGBOLU LG

In line with the electoral law of Ogun state, the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) has fixed the election for the forthcoming Councillor Bye Election in Ilado, Ward 10, Odogbolu Local Government Area of the State for Thursday, 26th October, 2023.

The Chairman OGSIEC, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu made this known at a stakeholders' meeting with representatives of different political parties, security agencies, and other relevant stakeholders at Odogbolu LGA.

Osibodu, said the Bye Election became necessary after the demise of the former Councillor, Late Hon. Olufemi Taiwo, noting that, going by the constitution the Commission is expected to conduct a bye-election into the position of the Councillor that would complete the term.

Represented by one of the Commission’s Commissioner, Gbemi Onasanya, the Chairman revealed that the meeting marks the commencement of the bye-election process scheduled to be held on Thursday, October 26, 2023, reiterating the Commission's commitment towards ensuring free, fair, and credible election, enjoined all political parties as well as other stakeholders to operate a level playing ground.

He said, "Activities on the timetable from today, Thursday, September 28, through Thursday, October 26, 2023, include commencement of campaign by Political Parties, the conduct of party primaries which is to be observed by the OGSIEC, collection of Personal Data Forms (CF 001& CF 002) for candidates by parties, submission of forms, screening of candidates amongst others".

In his welcome address, the Chairman of the Council, Hon. Shuaib Ladejobi, commended the due electoral process of OGSIEC on the bye-election for Ilado, Ward 10, after the demise of Hon. Olufemi Taiwo, attributing the success of the election that brought his emergence into office as a free and credible one.

He called on all political parties, security agencies, Baale's, and other relevant stakeholders in Ilado to cooperate with the Commission in conducting a hitch-free bye-election, saying anyone found distorting the process would be dealt with according to the law.

Also speaking, a Chief Superintendent of Police, Haruna Faluse, assured of adequate security during the election, adding that there would be collaboration and synergy with other security agencies.

In his remark, the Baale of Ilado, Chief Babatunde Onasanya, commended OGSIEC for the steps taken, promising his people maximum support during and after the election.

Abiodun, Fashola, 4 Others Appointed to Chair Committees

In its determination to achieve all of his electioneering promises for the overall benefits of members, the Chairman, Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Information Chapel, Comrade Femi Osipitan has approved the appointment of Comrades Bolaji Abiodun, Yemisi Fashola, Adeyinka Musa-Richard, Dokunmu Tunwase, Mary Olubiyi and Goke Oyebade as Chairmen of six committees.

The appointment in a statement signed and made available to our correspondent by the Secretary of the Chapel, Comrade Goke Oyebade had Abiodun as the Chairman, Welfare Committee, Fashola as Chairman, RIYE Cultural Night Committee, Musa-Richard as Chairman, Training & Capacity Building Committee while Tunwase, Olubiyi and Oyebade heads Agric Committee, 2023 Christmas Carol Committee and Toilet Construction Committee respectively.

Congratulating all appointees, the Chapel Chairman noted that it is a call to serve and contribute to the overall growth of the Chapel disclosing that the executive members cannot do it all alone.

According to the statement, appointed members are enjoined to be available for official inauguration on Friday, 29th September, 2023 at the Chapel's Secretariat from 10am.

OGSIEC PRESS RELEASE


PRESS RELEASE 

The Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC) will on Thursday, September 28, 2023, hold a stakeholders’ meeting at the Odogbolu Local Government Secretariat in preparation for a Councilor’s Bye-Election in Ilado Ward 10.

In a press release by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, stated that the meeting became necessary to fill the vacancy that opened up due to the unfortunate demise of the Ward’s Councilor, Late Hon. Olufemi Taiwo recently.

 In accordance with Section 41 of the Ogun State Electoral Law,
Electoral Guidelines and Timetable for the forthcoming By-Election scheduled to be held soon will be unveiled at the meeting.
All political parties and the general public are expected to be seated at 13:00hr prompt at the venue of the meeting, Odogbolu Local Government Secretariat, Ikenne Road, Odogbolu.

A release by the Chairman of the Commission, Mr. Babatunde Osibodu, stated that the meeting became necessary due to the demise of the Ward's Councillor, Hon. Olufemi Taiwo.

According to the release, electoral guidelines and timetable for the forthcoming bye-election scheduled to be held soon will be unveiled at the meeting.  

          The release enjoined all political parties and the general public to be punctual at the meeting which will hold at Odogbolu LG Secretariat Hall by 1pm

OGUN CONFIRMS APPOINTMENT OF 321 HEALTH PERSONNEL

          No fewer than 321 medical and health personnel employed by the Ogun State Hospitals Management Board (HMB) in the last two years, to beef up the existing health workforce have been confirmed by the State government.

          The Permanent Secretary, Hospitals Management Board, Dr. Yinka Elemide made this known during the confirmation exercise held at the Board's Conference Room in Abeokuta, saying 174 of the personnel were in the senior staff cadre, while those in the junior staff cadre were 147, to render efficient healthcare services to the people.

          Represented by the Director of Administration and Supplies of the Board, Mr. Olumuyiwa Ojo, the Permanent Secretary added that the officers whose appointments were considered for confirmation by the Board had stayed in the service for more than two years with four progress evaluation reports with no adverse report.

          Speaking with journalists after the confirmation exercise, the duo of Dr. Adegeye Eweje and Dr. Omowunmi Moibi from General Hospital, Ikenne, appreciated the government for finding their service worthy by employing them to contribute their quota to the health needs of the State.

          Lending her voice, a registered nurse, Mrs. Ayomikun Egbetayo, expressed her appreciation to the Prince Dapo Abiodun-led government and leadership of the Board for a stress-free exercise, saying confirmation of her appointment would motivate her to do more in caring for patients.
