2021 Press Week: Ogun NUJ partners Aderinokun Foundation, Hayat Kimya, Gives Back to the Society

As part of its activities to celebrate the year 2021 Press Week, the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Information Chapel visited Oba Ademola maternity centre, Ake, Abeokuta to give gifts to new born babies and nursing mothers as a way of giving back to the society.

The "Give Back Program" which was in collaboration with Chief Olumide and Stephanie Aderinokun foundation and Hayat Kimya, the company that produces Molfix diapers had packages which contains wipes, antiseptic disinfectant, combs, cotton boards, cotton wool, sanitary pads, molfix diapers and many other items handed over to many.
The Chairman of Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Information Chapel, Comrade Akinwale Olanrewaju who revealed that the union has always been visiting correctional and remand homes decided to visit the hospital for the year's give back while appreciating the foundation and Hayat for coming through.

After the Give Back session, the members of the union moved to the Saadatul Abadiyah Mosque, Leme, Abeokuta to appreciate Almighty Allah for the success of the Week.

We need journalists who will dig out errors in the system and proffer solutions says Minister




The importance of investigative journalism for national development cannot be over emphasized, hence the need for journalists who will take the bull by the horn, dig out errors in the society and profer solutions for implementation.

This was the submission of the General Overseer of Victory Life Bible Church, Abeokuta, Apostle Lawrence Achudume during the thanksgiving service of the Nigerian Union of Journalists, Ogun State Information Chapel, 2021 Press Week.

The Minister of God called on journalists all over the world to stick to the ethics of the profession and do their job diligently because they are the true voice of the masses saying if they decide to keep quite when unjust acts are being perpetrated, then the voice of the masses is gone.

"Your job is risky because we live in an environment that doesn't want the truth but we are praying for you that God will protect you", Achudume added while encouraging the members of the fourth estate of the realm never to be afraid to speak the truth at all times so that we can have the real liberty in the nation.

Apostle Achudume while ministering on the topic "When trouble comes", says troubles are common to men but he enjoined men of the pen profession that when it comes, God will come through for them as they rejoice in the God of their salvation.

Speaking during the thanksgiving service, the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Journalists, Ogun State Information Chapel, Mr. Akinwale Olanrewaju appreciated God on behalf of the members for His love and mercies that endures forever and the leadership of the Church for the warm reception and support for the journalism profession.

Olanrewaju added that the yearly Press Week is an avenue for journalists come together to discuss salient issues affecting the society, bring such to the knowledge of the public as well as recommend possible solutions.

OGSIEC BOSS THUMBS UP NSCDC AS COMMAND PLEDGES SUSTAINED COLLABORATION



Chairman of the Ogun State Independent Electoral Commission (OGSIEC), Mr. Babatunde Osibodu has commended the effort of the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps (NSCDC), Ogun State Command, for its role in the just concluded 2021 Local Government elections in the State.

Mr. Osibodu, who led the management team of the Commission on a visit to the NSCDC headquarters in Oke-Ilewo, Abeokuta, described men of the Corps as crop of professionals who discharge their duties before, during and after the elections with diligence and dedication.

He lauded the NSCDC for a job well done and advised the Command to maintain its integrity and continue to synergise with other security agencies in the State to further protect lives and property of the people.

"We are here to say thank you, not just for the roles played during the elections, but also for the various trainings and interactions with us as a Commission. All through the exercise, no member of the Corps, including the plain clothes and uniformed officers were found wanting”, OGSIEC boss said.

Responding, the Commandant of the Corps, Commander Kolawole Taiwo, appreciated OGSIEC team for recognising the hard work of the officers of the Command, disclosing that they were delighted to perform their civic responsibility by defending the defenseless.

He revealed that the Command would not relent in the discharge of its core mandate of securing National Assets of the country, Disaster Management, exposing citizens to security tips, adding that the Corp was civil in its operation.

He pledged the continued support and cooperation of the Corps to the Commission, assuring to always be partners in the progress and development of the State
